Loyal Lewis Roll of Honour 1914-1918 served as a primary source of names, against which the attestation papers on Library and Archives Canada were checked. Information on those who did not survive the war was firstly collected from Faces from the Lewis War Memorial, which lists all casualties from the Great War who originated from the Isle of Lewis. Further information on casualties, where necessary, was obtained from the Canadian Virtual War Memorial. Birth and death records on the Scotland's People website were consulted if required.

There are just over 680 names on this site. About 200 of these, who were quoted as serving with the Canadians in the Roll of Honour could not be matched to records on LAC. Similarly, 120 men had given their place of birth as Stornoway, Scotland, but were not represented in the Roll of Honour.

There is no claim towards this information being comprehensive, accurate or indeed without error. All supplementary information is more than welcome; please leave a note in the Guestbook, with as much identifying information as possible.
