He joined the Saskatchewan Regimental Depot, but was seconded to the RAF in 1917.

  1. I am related to Lieutenant Bruce and some years go visited his grave in Commercy which is close to Nancy in Lorraine. I query therefore the comment "went missing whilst flying from England to France" unless he got seriously lost. Isn't more likely he was doing intelligence gathering behind German lines ?

    1. Thank you for your comment. The quote is historical, used at the time. From today's perspective, it is obvious that his body WAS found and interred. I had occasion to research William's history, and summarise it on http://pentlandroad.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/schoolmasters-son.html.
